Nathan:

When I order a '99 Expediton when they are available this fall, I want to
be sure I get the correct rear end. I'm afraid I have yet to talk to
somebody at my local dealer who truly knows these vehicles like you. I'm
real appreciative of your input. Anyway, I want to the EB 5.4L with a
towing package for the transmission cooler, hitch, etc, But I don't want
to get a low geared rear end that will cost me gas mileage. (This vehicle
will be a commuter vehicle and I'm not planning any serious towing.) I
would like to get this so called "standard" rear end (3.55?) in limited
slip. What are my options.

Thanks.

Pierre

If you have the Vin the dealer really has no control over what happens. It
is probably sitting at a mixing center. This problem has been helped
greatly by the GM strike (we get their rail cars) but it is still happening
once in a while. The dealer should be able to call the Vehicle destination
management center and find out whats going on (things often mysteriously
show up very quickly after calling). You should have a truck very shortly.

They were a limited production. All were Supercab shortboxes, Lariat, 4.6L,
tan interior, and 60/40 seating. They could be 4x2 or 4x4 and came in Red,
Black, and White. They had painted grille meshing, "50th anniversary
edition" written on the seatbacks and floormats, 17" Wheels with Gold
pockets (all 4x4's were Off Roads), Gold Lariat Stripe, Gold 4x4 Off Road
decal (on 4x4's), and gold "50th Anniversary Edition" stickers above the
F-150 on the Sides and tailgate.
