Actually, in a recent post regarding spray-on bedliners, I made
the comment that they also make an excellent sound damper for all the
audiophiles out there. :) Coincidence, or cosmic link.
Twilight Zone theme song here>
I actually got the whole scheme from MiniTruckin' Magazine. One
clever lad stripped down his truck to bare sheetmetal, and had the
bed, underside, frame and interior of the cab (everything that would
be covered in fabric)and according to the guy who wrote the article,
it made quite a respectable sound damping system. :)
I imagine the same would hold true for the little aerosol cans of
the stuff. I plan on trying it in the spring, so if you wanna wait
around for a while, I'll let you know how it turned out. :)

Stanadyne makes specific diesel fuel additives for its injection pumps and
injectors (around here in Maryland at about 4 dollars a bottle; one bottle will
treat 150 gallons of fuel, I believe), and I would recommend using these (over an
extended period of time and, ultimatley permanently) before trying the chevron
product, although having said that I believe the latter is ok to use in a diesel.
You do not have to but Stanadyne; several companies make diesel fuel additive, and
its cheaper to buy it in one gallon or half gallon containers. david

actually, my original post didn't specify, but the vehicle in question
is gas powered.

Hi Folks,

I'm doing a little research and I'm wondering if anyone can look up the
fuel pressure that the in-tank fuel pump is rated at for the new generation
of Triton engines, the 4.6 V8 and the 5.4 V8 specifically. Maybe the V10
if anyone with a '97 full size van is reading this...

Thanks!

What with 2 year leases and all, I've yet to have any of my Rangers long
enough to really feel that I needed to clean the fuel injectors. Before my
'92 Ranger however, I drove an '87 Buick LeSabre and when it would
periodically start running like it might have had dirty fuel injectors, I
would switch to premium grade gasoline for four or five tanks full. At
that time, Mobil was advertising that their premium grade had higher
detergents and would clean dirty injectors, so I would generally buy my
fuel from them while I was using the higher octane stuff. And generally,
the car would start running better again on about the second or third tank
and the roughness would not return for quite some time (six to 12 months)
after I switched back to unleaded regular. With premium costing about
twenty cents per gallon more and fill-ups averaging about 15 gallons, this
method for injector cleaning would cost me $15.00 or less even if I
extended the "treatment" for a full five tanks. Like I said however, I've
not needed to do this for nearly six years now, and I haven't paid
attention to what is being claimed for gasoline formulation and additives
these days. So, as they say, your mileage may vary.

No, I thought we were talking about how hot fuel gets, and I just wanted to
illustrate how in this one case, it can get pretty darn hot!

Subject: bad rear

My 91 Ranger has been diagnosed with a bad rear end.
I imagine that means the differential.
We're going to look for a used one to put in, but
I was wondering if there are any recommended
upgrades, whether Ford or aftermarket, while
this thing is out - ie a limited slip or "positrac"
style diff. Thanks for any feedback.
