They usually come with a pretty good warranty as well. If you haven't done an engine before, maybe just getting a "longblock" (crankcase with heads only, you use your old valve covers, oil pan, etc. a "shortblock would be the crankcase only, no cylinder head..) would be a good way to go. This way, all the critical machine work will be done for you already. Pulling an engine, replacing the covers and other periphial components, and putting it back in is a job that can be completed by someone who has some mechanical ability and a reasonable set of tools....Once you see what size job it is, for the next round, you can start from scratch with a junkyard motor and do a little at a time and build the exact kind of engine you want.... Let us know which way you go.....Like Steve said, we'll help as much as we can... Good Luck! What do you guys think?? Dunno 'bout F350 springs, but I put a set of F250 "camper special" springs (7 leaves + 1 overload) under my '71 F100. (9" axle) I removed one leaf to make 6+1's and I've hauled 1800+lbs of firewood over 110 miles twice this year and the springs could easily have taken more. Sure made me wish for disk brakes tho... Regardless of whether we get the promised booth we have the following two events scheduled: Saturday, 10am until ??? - Get together followed by lunch - -------------------------------------------------------- In front of the Convention Center, under the canopy. You can't miss it, the show is next to it and there's a bazillion trucks on front lawn in front of it. The meeting will be informal and I plan to be there from 9:50 until we decide to head out. Bring a lunch and drinks, we'll find a place where we can go as a group to eat. Per Garry Bowling's suggestion, I'm going to briefly address the group (I hate speaking in public!). Sunday, 8 am until ??? - Sunday breakfast - ---------------------------------------- Breakfast really won't get underway until 8:30 but there will be people there at 8am. Bring donuts, bagels, McDonalds or whatever, enough for you and may a couple extra to put on the table for the group. This will be at a pavillion at Patriots Park. We'll have directions at the Saturday get together and at our booth. Sorry that this is so early but many people are heading out early to get home at a reasonable hour. To get a nametag/badge to wear to identify yourself, go to: http://www.ford-trucks.com/badge.gif and simply print it out. When you register for the show, please list Ford Truck Enthusiasts as the group/club you're with. We want Pat Ford, the promoter, to know that we support his event so we can make our booth a yearly thing. If you have any questions concerning the show, email me privately at kpayne Lastly, any email sent to my webmaster an autoresponder message. I'll be unavailble until the show is over on the 16th. I recently thought I needed a new Oil Pump...but the mechanic told me the engine is just about done. Now this truck is pretty much original....but I don't know whether to replace the engine or sell it. Any suggestions??? = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 61-79-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 61-79-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 May 1998 23:37:10 EDT From: JJJJJGRANT Subject: Re: FTE 61-79 - 78 Ford Bronco - Sell or Replace Engine? replace it with a 460 = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 61-79-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 61-79-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 May 1998 20:31:08 -0700 From: "Deacon" Subject: Re: FTE 61-79 - F100 Rear springs > From: Steve & Rockette > A buddy at work asked (axed??) me today if I could find out if >he could put F350 rear springs on his F100, he wants to use >it to haul his camper, it does have a Dana 60 in it now, with a >cheesy helper spring. What do you guys think?? If it's not raining here in Southern California (it never rains. Ha!) tomorrow. I'll go take some measurements on my F350 and compare them to my F100. From looking at them, I don't see why not.
